Ornella Tarola ha conseguito nel 2004 il PhD in Economics presso l’Universita di Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL,Belgium), nel 2002 il dottorato di ricerca in Economia Politica presso l’Università La Sapienza e nel 2001 il Master of Arts in Economics presso l’Universita di Louvain-la-Neuve. Ha lavorato in qualità di Maitre-Assistant presso l’IRE, Istituto di Ricerche Economiche, Università della Svizzera Italiana.

Effettua regolarmente periodi d visting all’estero, presso il CORE (UCL) e CREA (Luxemburg).
Ha coordinato gruppi di ricerca nazionali ed europei. Ha effettuato consulenze  in qualità di esperto presso il Centro Studi Confindustria, Ministero dell’Economia, UVAL e LEAR.
Nel 2014 ha ottenuto un riconoscimento internazionale per il paper Measuring the Impact of the European Regional Policy on Economic Growth: a Regression Discontinuity Design Approach: MARTIN BECKMANN AWARD 2014 for the best paper published in Papers in Regional Science, 2013.
Ha tenuto in Italia e all’estero corsi di Microeconomia, Economia Applicata, Economia della crescita, Economia Industriale.
I suoi ambiti di ricerca ruotano attorno a temi di Economia Industriale, Economia Ambientale ed Economia Pubblica. Di particolare interesse: scelte di investimento in mercati di duopolio con differenziazione di prodotto, incentivi all’adozione di tecnologie verdi, tassazione e flussi migratori.
