Business Information Systems (A.A. 2008/09)

Course concept

The course aims to introduce the main concepts related to the Information Systems domain and to provide the students with different lens of analysis based on their respective theoretical foundations. Focus will be pointed on epistemology, theoretical perspectives, methodologies, and methods. This will lead students to develop a wide comprehension of the role of Information Technologies in organizational contexts and in business strategy.
The second part of the course will be organized as a series of lectures including the following topics:
- IS and Business Process modeling
- ERP, SCM and CRM Systems
- Outsourcing and Virtual Enterprises
- Open Source
- IS Security
- Computer ethics
- E-government

 

Teaching methods

Traditional lectures will be integrated with active participation of students who will be required to read the didactic material (for each lecture) in advance and discuss it, with the support of the teacher, in the classroom.

Assessment

During the course: attendance and degree of participation to the discussions.
