Giovanni Orsina is Director of the LUISS Master in European Studies. He is associate professor of Contemporary History at LUISS-Guido Carli, where he teaches History of Political Parties, Comparative History of European Political Systems and History of Journalism. He is Scientific Director of the Fondazione Luigi Einaudi, Rome, and a leading writer for the newspaper «il Mattino», Naples.

He got his Ph.D. in History at the University of Roma Tre.

He taught Contemporary History in the Universities of Bologna, L’Aquila and Roma La Sapienza. He was Italian visting fellow at St Antony’s College, Oxford, in the year 1997-98; visiting professor at the Institute d’Etudes Politiques, Paris, in the year 2004; and at the Ecole Normale Superieure, Cachan, in the year 2006.

He has written extensively in the fields of Italian political history of the Twentieth Century and English history and historiography.

He is presently working on a re-interpretation of the Italian political system in the 1950s and 1960s in L’alternativa liberale. Giovanni Malagodi e la politica italiana.
