International Business 2015-2016


The course on International Business is aimed to analyzing the management implications of globalization for business organizations. The course is concerned with understanding how the development of international trade interacts with the dynamics of companies competing at international or global levels. The learning goals are:
– Being able to critically analyze international competition issues
– Developing skills for supporting the international growth of a business organization
– Understanding pros and cons of different internationalization choices
– Becoming more aware of the issues related to working in an internationalized business organization



The basic content of the course includes:

  1. an overview of the globalization phenomenon;
  2. the effects of the social and economic systems within countries on the conduct of international business;
  3. the major theories explaining international business;
  4. the political economy of international trade;
  5. strategies for international business
  6. the organizational structures of international companies;
  7. the international activities of international companies, such as Production, R&D, Logistics, Human Resource Management, and Marketing.
